Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is on the edge of the western rift valley. The park is also rich in birds, chimps, monkeys and butterflies. Bwindi is one of the largest natural forests in East Africa, with both montane and lowland forest. About half of the world's population of mountain gorillas - about 350 animals - are found in Bwindi. Seven gorilla families are open to visitors in Uganda (Rushegura, Mubare, and Habinyanja accessed through Buhoma; Ruhija accessed through Ruhija; and, Ishongi, Nkuringo, and Gahinga accessed through Kisoro). Other activities include volcano climbing, guided nature walk in the forest for primates, birds and butterflies or enjoy the breathtaking landscape!

ITINERARY FOR GORILLAS EXPRESS TOUR - GORILLAS IN MGAHINGA, BWINDI .
DAY 1
Arrive Entebbe airport. Meet, greet and transfer to Entebbe or Kampala for overnight (BB)
DAY 2, From Entebbe or Kampala to the Gorilla Park.
A gentle drive on the southbound road; passing charming attractions en route: look at royal drum makers, enjoy the Equator, stop at the roadside markets to enjoy some fruit and vegetables. Proceed to Bwindi (or Kisoro for those who wish to track in Bwindi South at Nkuringo, and Nshongi ). [Approximate driving time: 9 hours] Dinner and overnight.
DAY 3, Gorilla Tracking!
Go gorilla tracking (subject to availability of gorilla permits at time of booking), carrying a packed lunch. You will be accompanied by a guide and porters who will carry your shoulder pack for you. You will then set off to the thick forest in search of gorillas. The terrain can be difficult, with steep slopes covered in dense vegetation that gives the park its name. In addition, the altitude of 5200 feet and more means participants do need to be physically fit. The time taken to track the gorillas varies enormously, from as little as half an hour to as much as 8 hours before one returns to camp. Difficulty, however, is not impossibility and coming face to face with the great primates is well worth it! Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4, Return and fly out
After breakfast, drive to Kampala arriving early afternoon and transfer to Entebbe airport for your flight (HB). [Approximate driving time: 9 hours]

This safari starts from Entebbe [The Bwindi gorilla permit is included in the safari cost]. For those who wish to visit the three natural-habitat gorilla countries of the world Bwindi and Mgahinga in Uganda, Parc National des Volcans in Rwanda, and Virunga Park in Congo, which is on the other side of the misty Virungas please contact us. Visitors do this tour in express. It is the only tour activity that they do, in a minimum of 4 days by road. Tour may also be done in 2 or 3 days by air, this however requires advance preparations and booking. Note that the journey to Bwindi-South for gorilla tracking is a long one, about 500km on bitumen-surface and also on rough terrain, taking the traveller at least 9 hours from Entebbe to the gorilla park.
